I noticed this very colorful jumping spider on my hand while I was relaxing in a chair outside my house one evening. The little spider was actually tiny (barely a few millimeters in length!) but very active.
From the little research I’ve done it seems to go by the latin name of Chrysilla lauta and belongs to the family of Salticidae.
Photography proved to be a real challenge: Depth of field for an animal that small at macro distances is almost non-existent! The spider made life even more difficult by constantly moving and rarely fixing its eyes on me!
A few weeks later I found another tiny and equally colorful but slightly different variety of what I think is the same species (in the pics below).
