Dear Rahul, the Whitaker Boa is the only snake I have actually held in my hand for a few minutes. It was during a snake talk that you conducted at Haathi Mahal, Royal Goan Beach Resorts in South Goa in August 2008. You handed one such snake to me and walked away and I held it loosely with open palms, somewhat like one holds an infant. I think that was when the spell was cast. I’ve been wanting to see and learn about snakes ever since. After that I came across a rat snake and a common cobra (both in Tadoba National Reserve, Maharashtra) but did get a chance to handle either of them. I look forward to meeting you again during each of my future trips to Goa. And I really enjoyed your book “Call of the snake”. See you soon.

I consider this to be the most beautiful viper in India. The coloration & design is amazing to say the least. They are quite common around Ambe ghat & a host of wildlife photographers make a beeline for this place.It is also quite lazy being a ambush predator & will remain around the same spot for hours . This makes it very easy to locate once seen by someone..

Cute bugger. While fishing in a pond a few years back, one of them took a fancy for the worm at the end of my line. I must say it was a marathon struggle to get the hook out of his mouth & let him free. he kept pulling his head in & wouldnt cooperate a little bit.

Great pics. This year has had more than its share of landslides & floods. Lot many of my friends had harrowing tales of their escapades in Leh. Better luck next time.

I am glad to hear that you had a safe trip to the Himalaya’s considering what just happened there. If this is the view from the car en route Gangotri and Yamunotri..i can only imagine what it must be like at the actual destination! Wonderful pictures! It really looks like a splendid place..a must see soon!

Pics have come strikingly well , You have done good job with your canon camera . The topic should have been Himalayas – The land of landslides and place for some amazing mutton …many details are missing ..you should have atleast mentioned that your car ..took one nasty hit from the rock fallen from above …

There was a snake in my bed room which was discovered hiding under my bed. I dint know what to do and got contact of Nitin Sawant, Porvorim, Bardez – WWF – 9822483535 /2414278 on this web site. I called him up at 7 am on 29 may 2010 and he was there in 15 min.
What we saw was a 1.5 meter long snake, a COBRA. Shocking for me and others.
